Graduate Spotlight: Jessica C. receives Nurse of the Year award

nurseoftheyear.png

Jessica C. attended Jersey College for both her LPN and RN training. She is currently an OB Charge Nurse and was recently recognized as Mother/Baby Nurse of the Year!

Hear what some of her coworkers shared about their experience working with Jessica:

“She is compassionate and delivers excellent care to her patients as evidenced by her Daisy Award nomination and compliments during leadership rounds. Jessica is committed to always providing a positive patient experience.”

“Jessica is calm and collected during stressful situations, which enables her to handle them with focus and clarity. She is known to help out during unit emergencies, such a postpartum hemorrhage. These situations require all-hands-on-deck and Jessica’s experience and confidence keeps patient safety in the forefront. Jessica does this by helping ensure care is administered per policy and that communication with the rest of the team is clear and concise.”

“Being Charge Nurse on a busy inpatient unit is a dynamic and challenging role, with many variables thrown together at any moment. Jessica is respected as a Charge Nurse by her peers and leadership team. She is competent and accountable to ensure patients are well taken care of and staff aren’t needlessly overwhelmed. PCTs compliment Jessica for going above and beyond to help when workloads are heavy. Jessica is a true team player. She is also part of our unit’s Shared Governance Social Committee, which helps promote team engagement.”

“Jessica is a primary preceptor on our unit. Her knowledge-base and desire to teach makes her a great candidate for precepting new-graduate RNs. She can also be seen teaching our PCTs who are enrolled in nursing school. Seasoned and new nurses alike consider Jessica a go-to for clarification of patient care, advice or a helping-hand (and if she doesn’t know the answer, she is conscientious enough to help find it and aware of many resources).”

“Perhaps most importantly, what makes Jessica the perfect candidate for the our Mother/Baby Nurse of the year and for the Divisional Nurse of the Year award is her desire to grow professionally and continue to increase her knowledge-base and clinical expertise. She is pursuing her RNC and hopes to attend the Certified Lactation Counselor course later this year. Jessica has come a long way in her relatively short time here at TGH and she is a role-model of what it means to be a great nurse: clinical excellence, compassion, leadership and dedication to personal and professional growth. It is a pleasure to work with Jessica and she is very deserving of recognition for a job well-done.”

We are very proud to see our graduates impacting their local communities in a positive way. Congratulations Jessica!
