LPN to RN Bridge Program Structure 

The LPN to RN Bridge Track of the Professional Nursing program is generally divided into five 12 week terms for the day program and seven 12 week terms for the night program. It is possible to complete the program in as few as 15 months, but the normal time to complete is approximately 18 months for the day.

All courses within a “Level” must be completed satisfactorily before a student is permitted to advance to the next Level. Subject to prerequisite restrictions as set forth in the course descriptions, the courses within a Level may be taken in any order, subject to space availability.

The Levels and the orders in which they must be completed are:

Level 1

In Level 1 of the LPN to RN Bridge track, students acquire the knowledge, skills and experiences associates with the general education and nursing support. 

Level 2

In Level 2 of the LPN to RN Bridge track, the knowledge and skills of students are expanded to include education in core nursing areas - medical-surgical, pediatrics obstetrics, geriatrics, and psychiatric nursing.

Level 3

The LPN to Bridge track concludes in Level 3 with a capstone course that prepares students for the first year as a new RN and for the NCLEX-RN exam.

Sequence of Courses

Day Program

  • Level I: composed of Term 1 and 2 course load;
  • Level II: composed of Term 3 and 4 course load; and
  • Level III: composed of Term 5 course load.

Evening Program

  • Level I: composed of Term 1, 2, and 3 course load;
  • Level II: composed of Term 4, 5, and 6 course load; and
  • Level III: composed of Term 7 course load.
