Not Sure if You Need to Take the Exam?
- Are you already an LPN?
If you hold an active, unencumbered LPN license and completed a practical nursing program, you may be eligible to waive the entrance exam entirely. This could also qualify you for advanced placement in the program. Before you register, reach out to an admissions representative using the button below to find out if you qualify.
- Have you already taken the SAT or ACT?
Depending on your scores, you may be able to skip the entrance exam.
For the RN Program: ACT composite of 19+ or SAT 990+ (March 2016 or later)
For the LPN Program: ACT composite of 17+ or SAT 900+ (March 2016 or later)

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What's actually on the exam?
The entrance exam covers two subjects: reading comprehension and basic math. It's designed to assess foundational skills — not nursing knowledge — so you won't be tested on anything clinical. Many students find it more manageable than they expected.
-
How long does it take, and where is it offered?
You'll have up to 4 hours for the reading section and up to 3 hours for math. The exam is taken in person at your campus on a computer, and campuses offer testing Monday through Friday, Saturdays may also be possible. Results are available the same day.
-
Do I have to take the whole exam in one sitting?
Most students choose to take the reading comprehension and basic math sections in during the same day. However, you’re welcome to schedule them on separate days if that works better for you.
-
What if I don't pass a section?
You can try again! If you pass one section but not the other, you only retake the section you didn't pass — your passing score carries over.
-
What if I've been out of school for a while?
That's completely normal for our students. The exam is designed for adult learners, and free tutoring and practice resources are available specifically to help you brush up before test day.
-
Can I get help studying?
Yes — free live-virtual tutoring and practice resources are available to all registered applicants. Your admissions rep can also point you toward the right materials.
-
How long does registration take?
Just a few minutes online.
