Jersey College Nursing Students Served As Subject Matter Experts in Community Event
Our Tampa nursing students recently had the opportunity to serve as subject matter experts during the Florida Department of Health–Hillsborough County Staff Readiness Day.
Throughout three breakout sessions, our students provided hands-on instruction to over 200 participants, teaching essential mobility and transfer skills needed in a shelter environment. Training stations included bed mobility and repositioning, gait belt application and standing transfers, ambulation in crowded settings, and wheelchair and assistive-device transfers.
We are incredibly proud of the professionalism, confidence, teamwork, and clinical knowledge our students demonstrated while educating and supporting the participants. This experience allowed them to strengthen their leadership and teaching skills while making a meaningful contribution to community emergency preparedness.
