Commuter Stories: Dothan, AL Campus

For many students at Jersey College’s Dothan campus, living outside the city doesn’t mean missing out. Towns like Enterprise, Newville, and Hartford, Alabama, are just a short drive away, making the decision to commute to nursing school easier than you might expect.

How is the Commute from Enterprise to Dothan?

You might wonder if driving from Enterprise, Alabama to Jersey College in Dothan is a hassle. The good news: it’s really not. The drive usually takes about 30 minutes, letting students live at home and still get to class with plenty of time.

Kent, who commutes from Enterprise every day, says:
“I commute from Enterprise to Dothan which is a thirty to forty minute drive depending on traffic. I take advantage of listening to the recorded lectures in the mornings. The drive back to Enterprise after class helps to unwind and take in what was talked about in lecture.”

Donna, also from Enterprise, adds:
“I highly recommend Jersey College for your educational needs to become a RN. The classes are small and student focused. I commute from a neighboring town for classes. The drive is an easy commute for such an amazing school.”

Is a 30-Minute Commute for Nursing School Really Doable?

Plenty of students make this trip every day and it fits right into their routines. For most, the drive is no big deal. It’s just enough time to get ready for the day or relax on the way home.

Megan from Newville shares:
“I drive at least 30 minutes from school to home. 30 minutes from home to school.”

Tina, who comes from Hartford, told us:
“I love this school! I live in Hartford, AL and the school is in Dothan, AL and takes 30 minutes to get to school. The instructors are so very helpful whenever I have a question and my ICare mentor makes sure to always check in on how I am doing.”

Does commuting affect student life at Jersey College?

Not at all. The students who commute from out of town say they feel welcome and supported and the daily drive doesn’t stop them from getting the most out of their classes.

Whether you use the drive to listen to lectures, catch up on podcasts, or just enjoy some quiet time, it’s easily manageable.

Small class sizes, caring instructors, and a close-knit campus community mean commuting from Enterprise or surrounding towns is completely doable. Students do it every day and they’re glad they made the choice.
