Accreditations & Licenses

Our accreditations and licenses indicate a standard of quality and a commitment to the students and communities in which Jersey College's nursing schools are located.  The faculty, course structure, class composition, clinical experience, and overall rigor of Jersey College continue to improve as we assess and challenge our staff and students to ensure the nursing education at Jersey College is the most innovative and relevant experience for future nursing professionals.

It is our commitment to the students in our nursing programs to provide the excellence in nursing school education that the accreditation and licenses indicate, while continually reassessing and improving our programs as opportunities arise.

The campuses of Jersey College and their individual programs have met the educational standards for approval, licensure and/or accreditation from the following entities. Students may contact these entities to obtain additional information or address concerns. Jersey College is also a member agency of both the National League for Nursing and the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing.

The Professional Nursing programs at the Ewing, NJ; Jacksonville, FL; and Teterboro, NJ campuses are candidates for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

 

Institutional Accreditation


Council on Occupational Education

Jersey College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE), a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. COE is approved to accredit post-secondary institutions that offer certificate, diploma, or associate degree programs. Jersey College gained its initial accreditation from COE in 2007.

Accreditations & Licenses for New Jersey Campuses


New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education

New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education is responsible for the “coordination, planning, policy development, and advocacy for New Jersey’s higher education system”. As the main regulatory body overseeing New Jersey’s degree granting post-secondary institutions, NJ Higher Education is charged with the licensing, approval, and monitoring of public and private colleges and universities. The Teterboro and Ewing campuses of Jersey College have been licensed by NJ Higher Education since 2012.

New Jersey Board of Nursing

The New Jersey Board of Nursing is the state entity that oversees the regulation and approval of licensure-based nursing programs. The Board’s mission is to “protect the health and safety of the public through effective public policy, competent and ethical nursing practice, and exceptional customer service.” Jersey College has been accredited by the New Jersey Board of Nursing since 2004.

Florida Department of Education

The Commission for Independent Education has statutory responsibilities in matters relating to nonpublic, postsecondary, educational institutions. In keeping with the Florida Department of Education's goal of producing a seamless educational system, some of these functions include consumer protection, program improvement, institutional policies and administration, data management, and the licensure of independent schools, colleges and universities.

The Florida Board of Nursing is the state entity that is responsible for the oversight and recognition of licensure-based nursing programs. The Board’s mission is to “protect, promote & improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, & community efforts.” Jersey College has been licensed by the Florida Board of Nursing since 2008.
