Q. What type of program is the Nurse Residency Track of the Professional Nursing program?

The Professional Nursing program educates and prepares students for entry level registered nursing positions in a variety of healthcare settings.

Q. What type of degree is offered?

Students earn an Associate of Science degree in Nursing upon successful completion of the program.

Q. How long is the Nurse Residency Track of the Professional Nursing program?

The coursework in the Nurse Residency track of the Professional Nursing program takes approximately 24 months to complete. The normal time to complete the Professional Nursing program is approximately 27 months for the Nurse Residency track.*

* Normal time in the Professional Nursing program includes the additional time associated with the passing the comprehensive assessment and completing assignments needed for licensure recommendation by Jersey College.

Q. What does a typical education plan include for the Nurse Residency Track of the Professional Nursing program?

The Nurse Residency Track of the Professional Nursing program is broken into six semesters. The coursework by semester consists of the following:
• Semester 1: Human Body in Health and Disease I, and Nutrition and Nursing I: Foundations
• Semester 2: Human Body in Health and Disease II, Principles of Pharmacology, and Nursing II: Introduction to Medical-Surgical Nursing
• Semester 3: Human Body in Health and Disease III, Microbiology: Impact of Microorganisms on the Environment, Composition I, and Nursing III: Psychiatric Nursing
• Semester 4: Life Span Development, Nursing IV: Care of Women and Children
• Semester 5: College Algebra, Sociology, Nursing V: Advanced Concepts of Medical-Surgical Nursing
• Semester 6: Nursing Seminar and Nursing VI: Leadership and Delegation
