Q. What type of program is the Practical Nursing program?
The Practical Nursing program prepares graduates to assume practical nursing staff positions in hospitals, nursing homes, and other health related institutions. The program is a diploma program.
Q. Can I get financial aid to study at Jersey College?
Jersey College is approved to offer federal financial aid (also known as Title IV aid). Federal financial aid is available to those who qualify. The financial aid planners at Jersey College are available to assist you with applying for federal financial aid and discussing the types of aid (Stafford Loans and Pell Grants) that you may qualify for.
Q. Is there anything that I can do to study or prepare for the entrance exam for the Practical Nursing progrm ?
We recommend that you attend our complimentary Math tutoring sessions. These sessions are offered at no cost to individuals who register for the entrance exam. The sessions are typically offered prior to entrance testing. You should contact your Admission Representative to obtain an upcoming tutoring schedule.We also recommend that you purchase a study guide. There are numerous study guides available for entrance exam testing for practical nursing programs. These guides help you polish your current skills, contain information on how to read test questions and provide practice questions. Jersey College has available for purchase a study guide by a leading publisher. This guide is available for $25.*
Q. What Grade Point Average must I maintain?
To successfully complete a course students are required to maintain a 75% or higher grade point average. In addition, students are required to pass the practicum portion of each course and successfully complete progression exams. Students who fail to meet these standards are subject to academic probation or dismissal from the Practical Nursing program. Jersey College does allow students to repeat failed courses, subject to certain conditions. Additional information regarding repeating a course is available in our Academic Catalog.
