Community Blood Drive at Jersey College

JERSEY COLLEGE’S SCHOOL OF NURSING TO HOST BLOOD DRIVE IN SUPPORT OF ORLANDO AREA

Jacksonville Campus of Jersey College hosts community blood drive with One Blood, to contribute to community blood banks and victims of recent attack in Orlando.

Jersey College’s School of Nursing and One Blood have scheduled a blood drive at the Jacksonville Campus on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6:00-8:30 pm.  The blood drive will be held at the Jacksonville campus of Jersey College, located at 8131 Baymeadows Circle, West, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.  The mass shooting that occurred in Orlando last weekend has left Florida blood banks extremely low.  Not only is this dangerous for our local communities, but the blood banks in Orlando and the surrounding areas have now been depleted and need to be replenished.  “In such a tragic time as this, it’s important for the community to come together and give back in any way we can,” said Maryanne Moore, Campus Director.

The Jacksonville community is invited to join Jersey College’s Nursing students, staff, and alumni for a blood drive. The blood types most in need at this point are O-Positive, O-Negative, and AB Plasma.  However, any blood donation is desperately needed at this point.  Donors must weigh at least 110 lbs and have a government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license).  If interested in donating, please call 1.888.936.6283 to schedule an appointment or stop by the Blood Mobile anytime between 6:00-8:30 pm.
